Southside Bowling Sweeps to the Top
A week after being crowned county champions, the Southside Bowling teams took over the top spots in the region by sweeping Etowah, Gadsden City, and West End. Senior Jake Warden’s 228 and Junior Ashlee Hull’s 190 set the way for a thrilling night of bowling Wednesday. The 2x defending state champion girls (10-1, 4-0) punched their ticket to the playoffs for the 4th straight year with dominating wins defeating Etowah (1336-1075) and Gadsden City (1336-976).
Action was much closer on the boys side, but a team baker score of 242 in the final game propelled the panther boys (11-5, 5-1) to a score of 1396 and to the top spot in the region outscoring Gadsden City (1348), Etowah (1282), and West End (1264).
The Panthers host Hartselle today and travel to Auburn tomorrow for non-region action against 2 of the top teams in the state.
